The content of total carbon and sulfur is determined by oxidative melting (in the oxygen current) on a LECO gas analyzer, model SC-144DR.
The analyzer is designed for rapid analysis of the total carbon and sulfur content in ferrous, non-ferrous metals, steels and alloys, ore raw materials, concentration products and other inorganic materials. They are used in the metallurgical, machine-building industry and other fields of science and technology.
The principle of operation of the analyzer is based on the burning of subsamples placed in special ceramic crucibles in an induction furnace and the subsequent measurement of the carbon and sulfur content in gaseous CO2 and SO2 by infrared absorption. Measurements are carried out in accordance with the measurement procedures. The operation of the device is controlled by a computer, in the memory of which up to 32,000 assay results are constantly stored.
Measurement range of mass fraction, %:
carbon 0.0004-100 %
sulfur 0.0004-26 %
Accuracy, %:
carbon, sulfur-0.0002
The nominal analysis time is 40 seconds.
